Progress!  Messy progress!
The walls have been taped, spackled and sanded in the UUCSH addition.  That means

Administrator/Treasurer Office

there’s a lot of dust around.  We’ll be working on getting that cleaned up this week.  It’s a messy process.
What that means, though, is the walls are ready for PAINT, and trim!  By the end of this week, it will look much more finished.  Hooray!

This week, the side stairs will likely be removed.  For the time being, everyone will need to enter the building through the front doors.  We know that this may be difficult for those with mobility challenges and I apologize.  It should be a short-term situation until the rear entrance is ready to be used.

Railing for new stairwell in UUCSH addition

The railings have been installed on the new stairwells (see right) so the stairs in the back of the building can be used as an emergency egress.  Once the new section is clean enough, we’ll open up the space and Coffee Hour will return.

The new furnace has been installed in the mechanical room in the addition.  And we have new electrical panels as well.  As you can see, there are many details to manage in a project of this magnitude.

The Access and Aesthetics Committees made final selections regarding paint colors, trim, and other finishes this week.

If you haven’t yet done so, please mark your calendar for Sunday, May 3, when we will hold the official Building Dedication Ceremony.

What does this mean for activities at UUCSH?
Coffee Hour:  We’re just awaiting things to be cleaned up in the new space.  Coffee Hour may resume this Sunday, Feb. 22.  Additional volunteers are needed; if you’d like to be part of this ministry, please let me know, or tell the office (
Rest rooms:  There are two restrooms on the first (Fellowship Hall) level.  One must use stairs to access them.
Parking:  Please save the spaces in the congregation’s side lot for those with special needs/mobility concerns.
Funding:  There are a few places where the project has gone over the budgeted amount, and we’ve faced unanticipated expenses of replacing the roof and the boiler.  As has been reported previously, the contingency for this project was exhausted before the project began.  Additional contributions toward capital projects would be most appreciated.  Please contact me ( or our Treasurer ( with any questions you may have.
