The Access Project Update for this week didn’t have much visually interesting other than the classrooms.
It started with what had been stored in a plastic enclosed area of Fellowship Hall (above). A team of UUCSH volunteers thoroughly cleaned the new spaces and all the things that needed to go into the classrooms — tables, chairs, shelves, storage bins, and more.  Many hours and some sore muscles later, UUCSH had three enclosed classrooms and two classroom spaces ready for Sunday Religious Education on January 18.  That includes the nursery, which we hadn’t been able to offer since mid-December.  Hooray!  I was delighted to see a family making use of the nursery on Sunday.

Many thanks to the volunteers who made this happen!  We will have more “moving ministry” in the next month.  If you are interested in helping with cleaning and moving, please let me know.

The other work done on the Access project didn’t make for good photos.  The plumbing and electrical “rough-ins” were completed.  As of this posting, we are awaiting word on their approval.  Work will progress quickly once we pass these inspections.

What does this mean for activities at UUCSH?
Nursery and Sunday School Classes:  The nursery and RE Classrooms are ready for use.   Please meet your child at his or her classroom in Fellowship Hall immediately following the Sunday service.
Coffee Hour:  Due to fire code regulations, we will not have Coffee Hour after Sunday services until at least February 1.  Stay tuned!
Rest rooms:  There are two restrooms on the first (Fellowship Hall) level.  One must use stairs to access them.
Parking:  Please save the spaces in the congregation’s side lot for those with special needs/mobility concerns.

Funding:  There are a few places where the project has gone over the budgeted amount, and we’ve faced unanticipated expenses of replacing the roof and the boiler.  As has been reported previously, the contingency for this project was exhausted before the project began.  Additional contributions toward capital projects would be most appreciated.  Please contact me with any questions you may have.

The Congregational Update Meeting on Sunday, January 25 at 11:30am will be largely devoted to the Access Project.  All members and friends are welcome to attend to learn more and ask questions.
