This has been a good week for the Accessibility renovation project! Last week, the door to the new stairs was switched so it opens in the correct (and safe) direction. The crew installed a drain, finished digging the foundation extra deep for the elevator, and built the forms for the foundation footings.
Today, the work was approved by the Borough of Somerville and the cement was poured for the foundation.
We learned recently that the congregation received a $2000 donation for the shed that we had hoped to put in the yard. The shed had been removed from the project due to the tight funding we face. This is excellent news! The congregation really needs that exterior storage space. The donor wishes to remain anonymous. I can report that the Access Committee was overjoyed to hear the news of this donation at last night’s meeting. The Buildings and Grounds Committee will be working on getting the ground prepared and, eventually, the shed purchased and installed.
It doesn’t hurt to remind everyone that there should be no playing in the parking lot during this construction period.
