Foundation walls starting 30Oct14This week on the Accessibility project…

  • The cement block foundation for the addition is being completed.
  • The new high-efficiency, direct-vent furnaces will arrive.  We hope one of them can be connected by Sunday’s service.  If not, we will advise folks to dress appropriately.
  • The plumbers will be starting their work.

Please do keep in mind that the parking lot is a construction zone.  Enter and exit with caution as things are always changing.  The contractor has pledged to clean up at the end of the work day but it is difficult to fully control construction debris.  Keep your eyes open and let Missy Staples know if you find anything to be unsafe.

Following up to last week’s post about the new shed, the Access Committee has chosen the design and color scheme of the new shed.  It will be brick red with white trim and a grey roof.  The shed will be placed in the northwest corner of the lot, as approved by the Borough of Somerville in May.  Our builder will help us with getting the ground leveled and putting in the stone foundation.

A few weeks back, we learned that the roof on the church building will need to be replaced. Many shingles are missing and the remaining ones very brittle.  The Access team is gathering information about how best to do the work at the most reasonable cost to the congregation.  As you may recall, due to price increases beyond our control, the contingency fund for the Access project was depleted.  If you have questions about the roof replacement, please contact me directly.

The minister’s and Director of Lifespan Faith Development offices will be emptied before Thanksgiving.  Other areas of the church will also need to be cleared of their contents.  Stay tuned for possible “stuff shuffling” days in the coming weeks, and be understanding as the changes and clutter we experience will be temporary.
