The time for all ages on Sunday March 13, 2016 was a telling of the story Anansi and the Pot of Wisdom.
To briefly recap the story, Anansi is a spider who loves to spin tales! Anansi beseeches the Sun God to share all of its wisdom on everything and everyone in order to tell even better stories.
The Sun God puts all of the wisdom in the world into a clay pot and gives the pot to Anansi- with the condition that Anansi MUST share the wisdom with everyone.
Anansi agrees…but while heading home Anansi looks into the pot and sees such wonders, and sights and sounds- decides not to share it!
While climbing a tree to hide the pot of wisdom, the pot falls and breaks, releasing the wisdom into the world, a little here, a little there, a little on everyone.
This story led to these wondering questions…
I wonder what sights and sounds Anansi saw in the pot?
I wonder what would have happened if Anansi had hidden the pot and kept it all to itself? If the wisdom had not been liberated?
I wonder how we might see things differently if we kept this in mind- that wisdom is to be found everywhere- in our own stories and each other’s stories; the short stories of our day, the long stories of our lives.
