…but there is oh so much more than just making sandwiches!  On Wednesday July 24 from 6-8 p.m. (depending on how long it takes) there will be a sandwich making brigade assembly to produce 40 bagged lunches to be delivered to the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program- SHIP- for their meal delivery program.
The signup genius link is here for all the ways you can participate on July 24, or the delivery on July 25, or provide donations anytime in advance of those dates.
This hands on community service is in concert with SHIP being the community plate recipient for July and August.  Based on how this first sandwich making event goes we will adjust accordingly for the August sandwich making event.  After doing two events we’ll take inventory and decide if it is something UUCSH would like to do on a regular basis or only once in a while.  Many thanks to Kira Edgar for contacting Tom O’Leary of SHIP in order to find out the details of what SHIP’s needs are.
This is a multi-generational activity so we are hoping to have a range of children, youth, and adults side-by-side assembling brown bag lunches.  As part of Religious Education for children and youth is putting their Unitarian Universalist faith into action, this activity exemplifies the second principle of offering fair and kind treatment to all and the sixth principle of helping to build a just and peaceful world where no one has to go hungry.
