Open minds, loving hearts, helping hands

*Crew Chief Peter Hansch designed these cute coffee mugs as gifts for Coffee Crew volunteers. If you want one, you’ve gotta earn it by setting up or cleaning up on Sunday mornings.

Caring Committee
This committee support the congregation in times of need and in times of joy. Support ranges from sending kind notes to arranging for home-cooked meals, transportation to medical appointments, and addressing other needs.
We welcome new committee members. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. If you would like to join us as a member, or if you or someone you know needs a little TLC, please contact our office administrator.

Building & Grounds
This committee oversees our property from the inside out, which includes everything from minor repairs and maintenance to planning for snow removal and other needed services. In addition to these projects, two subcommittees address specific needs.

  • Aesthetics — We make an effort to create an environment that is comfortable and spiritually uplifting, with seasonal touches. We also ensure that the entire interior space remains attractive and organized. The Fellowship Hall downstairs features moveable walls to create classroom and meeting spaces, as needed.  The sanctuary upstairs features calm colors, comfy padded pews, large windows, and a chalice hand-crafted by UUCSH member Glenn Ruhf. Listen to Glenn share the story of this piece of art.

  • Landscaping — We ensure that the property surrounding our church is tidy, safe, and appealing. Seasonal clean-ups welcome volunteers of all ages to weed, seed, rake, plant and mulch, as needed.  We have plenty of space available on the Lawn Mower Brigade in the warm months; we provide the mower.  This committee also organizes the Fall Leafpalooza & Spring Clean-Up because it takes a village to keep our church as welcoming outside as it is inside. Volunteers of all ages are welcome!

Green Sanctuary
Thanks to the efforts of committed volunteers, the UUCSH attained the UUA’s Green Sanctuary status. This designation recognizes our ongoing efforts to minimizes our congregation’s impact on the earth while promoting at-home Earth-friendly practices also. Learn more about our Green Sanctuary program.

The Membership Committee welcomes visitors, introduces them to the congregation, and helps them engage with us to the extent they wish to get involved. The committee also guides interested friends through the process of becoming a member, supports members and friends by updating our member directory, photo directory, and handling related tasks.
