Social Activities

Friendship and fun are an important part of life at UUCSH, and social activities are a great way to build and strengthen this community of caring, supportive people. We offer an assortment of activities, both regularly scheduled, like First Friday Game Night, and ad hoc gatherings when a great idea (or a group discount coupon for rafting tickets) arises.

To join the fun, please check the event calendar on our Home page, read the announcements in the Sunday Order of Services, email us, or call us at 908-927-0601.

Here’s a sample of some of the activities you’re welcome to join in. Unless otherwise noted, events are open to members, friends and visitors of all ages:

Circle Suppers — Monthly dinners in the Fellowship Hall bring members and friends together for potluck meals and conversation. Children are welcome, under parent supervision.

First Friday Game Night — If you enjoy games, we’ve got ’em! Come to the Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. We’ve got games, but you’re welcome to bring your own also. Children welcome under parental supervision.

rUUnners & Walkers — Like to keep fit? Meet us at local running tracks to walk, jog or run, depending on your mood and fitness level. Some rUUners participate in 5k’s or longer events, but there’s no pressure to compete. Kids are welcome! We typically meet at the Raritan Valley Community College track Tuesday and Friday morning at 9 a.m. and on Sunday afternoons at 4 p.m.

Winter Fun — If you like the snow, join us for a trip to the Pocono Mountains. Relax and enjoy good company or take in outdoor activities including snow shoeing, nearby alpine skiing…and snow angels!

On a Lazy River — If you enjoy a lazy float down a lazy local waterway, join us for summer rafting trips. For a bit more exercise, join a canoe or water park trip.

4th Sunday Brunch — These monthly get-togethers at local Somerville restaurants offer congenial conversation and good food.

Facebook Page & Group — Our Facebook page is a great way for visitors to keep abreast of upcoming services and events.  Members and friends who attend services and events regularly may also join our Facebook group page for more conversational updates.

Football Ministry — Like tossing a football? Join our ad hoc football games after Sunday services. Kids and adults welcome.

Family Camp — This event, held at a YMCA campgrounds, grows each year. In 2012, 50 members and friends participated in affordable, family fun.
