On August 4, BTE will travel to the Great Falls in Paterson, the second largest falls east of the Mississippi (by volume). In 1791, Paterson became America’s first planned industrial city, centered around hydro power extracted from the Passaic River at the Great Falls. From humble mills would rise industries that changed the face of the United States. The Falls are now a National Historical Park, and are about 45 minutes north of UUCSH, just off Interstate 80.
We plan to arrive in time to take the 11:00 guided tour, which lasts about an hour and covers about ¾ miles (relatively flat and accessible). After the tour we will do lunch and a local eatery. Those that are interested can also visit the Paterson Museum (across the street from the falls) which exhibits Paterson history along with displays of historic industrial equipment.
Please contact Frank Hershkowitz (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information or to RSVP if you plan to participate.
