Worship: “Like A River” and Water Communion

Author Avianca Bouchedid, Written Aug 26, 2014

WATER COMMUNION: Our annual homecoming service is Sunday, September 7 and it features a beloved ritual, Water Communion. We ask you bring a bit of water, from a place significant to you, to service that morning to place in our common bowl. The “where” can be as far-reaching as a distant country or as close as your home tap. During our service we’ll also each share the significance of the place from which our waters came, the “why”.  Did you bring that water because it is a symbol of a time spent with loved ones? Did it come from an ocean that has been a place of refuge? Or maybe it’s from a part of the world where you had an intense connection or realization? We ask that you think deeply and bring with you a short sentence or phrase that describes the “why” of your water.
