Tom O’Leary, Executive Director of SHIP, the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program, shares his personal life journey that led him to found an organization to support our community in Somerset County. Our Social Action Committee has invited Tom O’Leary to share his story with us, recognizing Tom and his work as one of the voices and organizations in our community that inspires hope and healing. Tom will also let us know about the issues facing many people in Somerset County and what we can do to help. UUCSH currently supports SHIP through our community plate collection and also by making bagged lunches for those in our community SHIP serves.

SHIP is a faith based, interfaith and community funded, assisted and supported, grassroots organization. SHIP clients are the homeless, near-homeless, working poor families, and individuals in Somerset County Regions who are not able to obtain assistance from government or other private agencies, and are therefore denied a opportunity to receive the basic humane assistance they need and deserve.
