Join us this Sunday, January 29th at 10:00 a.m., for a service led by Terry Cummings. In a sermon titled, “The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same: The Prophetic Voice of Theodore Parker,” Ms. Terry Cummings will respond to modern-day evangelicalism and the theological aspects of social justice through the lens of Rev. Parker’s April 11, 1858 sermon, “The Revival of Religion Which We Need.” Parker was a leader in the Transcendentalist movement and was an abolitionist regarded as perhaps the most influential American Unitarian minister to date.
Cummings is a Unitarian Universalist candidate for ministry. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary and is currently completing her second unit of clinical pastoral education at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. This fall, Cummings will begin serving as the ministerial intern at First Parish Church in Lincoln, MA. Prior to pursuing a career in ministry, Cummings was a corporate and litigation attorney with her own firm in Manhattan.
