Immigration Reform

Dear Friends,

The work for enactment of a comprehensive immigration bill that includes a path to citizenship for undocumented persons goes on.  We’ve seen compromise, yes, and we’ve been frustrated that the bill that overwhelmingly passed the Senate does not do all that we would hope for, but it is still a bill worth fighting for.  Now that fight goes to the House of Representatives, clearly its most difficult struggle.

Now is the time for us to contact the members of our New Jersey congressional delegation — Republicans and Democrats.  Please call or email their House offices.  The message is simple — urge them to hold a vote on the Senate immigration bill (S. 744) or at least on a House version that takes a comprehensive approach and includes a path to citizenship for undocumented persons.  You could say more if you wish, but that’s the key point.

You can find the office phone numbers and contact information for all New Jersey congressmen (yes, they are all men) at  Find your own representative and contact him, but contact as many others as you can!  This is the time for us to mobilize as many Unitarian Universalists as possible to make our voices heard!

Thank you for your efforts,
Ted Fetter, Immigration Task Force Chair
