Micro-Credit Fundraising Dinner update

Author Avianca Bouchedid, Written Dec 18, 2012

The 2nd Annual Micro-Credit Fundraising Dinner to help women in Nepal was a huge success. On Saturday, December 1st, the Social Action Committee and Friends of Nepal NJ Executive Director, Tulsi Maharjan, organized a dinner and silent auction to help women in Nepal.  We had a terrific turnout and we raised $1,725. Besides raising money, we also raised awareness about the issues facing people in Nepal and we learned that we can help. We found out that $2,000 can help 10 children go to school starting in kindergarten through 10th grade. We found out that Friends of Nepal NJ is a very effective grassroots organization that gets 100% of the funds raised to the people in Nepal for education as well as for an opportunity to get goats, which helps the people in the small villages in Nepal. We are giving the people in a few small villages in Nepal a better chance for a better quality of life. For anyone who could not make it to the dinner but would still like to donate to Friends of Nepal NJ you can send your check to: FON-NJ,  P.O. Box 5015, Somerville, NJ 08876.
