Open minds, loving hearts, helping hands

Oh we give thanks…

…for this precious day!
For all gathered here…and those far away…
For this time we share…with love and care…
Oh we give thanks…for this precious day!

Don’t I sound great when I’m singing in writing?!  🙂

You may recognize the tune from the Unitarian Universalist hymnal, Singing the Journey, #1010.  Always a fun one to sing and most fitting for the Thanksgiving holiday.  As Director of Lifespan Faith Development there are so many children, youth, and adults in the congregation I am thankful for as Religious Education for Children and Youth and Adult Faith Development would not happen without their presence, participation, and leadership.

While you express gratitude for that which has past, here are some things to be “pre-thankful” for…

Winter Holiday Pageant– Caryn Phillips is well underway with her many helpers to making it happen- Children’s Chapel on 11/25 introduces the theme, rehearsal on 12/9, and performance on 12/16.  Join the fun!

Guest at Your Table– a great collaboration of Religious Education and Social Action Committee- be sure to pick up a collection box at service AND an “alternative advent calendar” to give a twist to the donation process.

FLASH Youth Group Lock-in– The Youth Group will be having an overnight lock-in on Saturday Dec 8.  This lock-in will be open to both the senior high youth AND the 8th and 9th grade Coming of Agers as a way of building community with the two groups.  Come for fun and fellowship- and some sleep…

Parenting Communication Workshop– While January 23, 2013 may seem so far away…it will be here before you know it!  Pencil in this great opportunity with Missy Staples to learn and share on…How to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk…a curriculum based on the book of the same title!  The series will be six Wednesdays, 7-9 p.m.

“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is ‘thank you’, it will be enough.”
