Picnic and Groundbreaking

The UUCSH Annual picnic is this Saturday, June 14, at 5pm, in the congregation’s parking lot and yard.  This is always a fun time of food and fellowship for congregation members and friends.  Locally-sourced, grass-fed, organic beef and turkey burgers, and hot dogs will be provided, as well as veggie dogs and burgers.  Bring a side dish or dessert if you can.  All ages are welcome; it’s a family-friendly event.

This is the last time we will have a festivity of this kind in the space as it exists today.  Last month, the Borough of Somerville approved UUCSH’s application to construct a small addition to the building that will include an elevator and handicapped-accessible restrooms.  When we bought the building in 2010, the congregation consciously decided not to hold a formal dedication until the building was handicapped accessible.  Thanks to the many members and friends who made financial contributions to bring our dream to reality!

The construction will begin sometime later this summer, after we get permits and such.  But, we will have a ceremonial groundbreaking at the Annual Picnic to acknowledge the significance of the project and its impact in our UUCSH community!  Plenty of folks will be on hand to answer questions you may have about the project.  Hope to see you there!
