The Social Action Committee of Temple Beth-El in Hillsborough, NJ will host this program with a panel of leaders from the NJ African-American community: Reverend Lukata Mjumbe, Pastor of Witherspoon Presbyterian Church in Princeton, NJ; community activist Imam Deen Shareef, the Convener of the Council of Imams in NJ and the spiritual leader of the Msjid Waarith ud Deen in Irvington, NJ; and hopefully a third panelist not yet confirmed.
They will share testimony of their personal experience of racial injustice, and a discussion will follow about their vision of where change needs to start, and how we can be effective allies.
RAC NJ [Religious Action Center of the Union for Reform Judaism, New Jersey Chapter] will cosponsor, inviting congregations around the state, and we are reaching out to interfaith congregations as well. It should be a powerful program with next steps for us to take to fight racial disparities and injustices in our state.
